So far in the season, 5 teams remain undefeated — Melbourne Wolves Champions (U8 Girls), Melbourne Wolves Arctic (U18 Boys), Melbourne Wolves Thunderbolts B (U10 Boys), Melbourne Wolves Timberwolves (U10 Boys), and Melbourne Wolves U16 Suns (U16 Boys). The Arctic and Suns are 5 wins and 0 loss, while the other four teams are all 8 wins and 0 loss.
Timberwolves — Dedication Beyond the Court
The photo features Melbourne Wolves Timberwolves players and coach Rewa Zeneldin.
"Our players are amazing," coach Zeneldin said, "not only do they train hard and play hard, they also go to coaching sessions outside the club to further craft their skills and make themselves better. Their dedication is evident on the floor."
Arctic — Structure, Discipline and Stepping Up
U18 Boys Arctic coach Rahul Rastogi commented on his squad: "this year we are seeing a big change in these players — they are learning to play with structures and discipline, moving the ball well and everyone stepping up at critical times. I believe that's the biggest reason for our achievement so far."
Champions — A 74:0 Statement
U8 Girls Champions coach Sarai Roe had an easy job last week when her Champions team defeated their opponent 74:0.
"The mercy rule came to play within the first 8 minutes of the game," she said, "our girls played with a great attitude throughout the game, and throughout the season. Everyone is aware of their role and executes it very well."
Thunderbolts B — Goals, Fun and Brotherhood
U10 Thunderbolts B coach Alistair Govier-Cole couldn't be more proud of his boys. "Every game I am setting goals for players, for example, Travis needs to grab two rebounds by the half, Aarav needs to put up at least two second chance shots, Leo needs to limit his fouls to under three by the half, Jacob needs to hustle at least three times to fight for the ball… etc and they are amazing at executing them. It's nice to be undefeated, but I am more pleased to see our kids having fun and enjoying the team work, playing together like brothers, and improving everyday."
U16 Suns — Intensity and Teamwork
"The Suns boys really played with intensity throughout the season," Suns coach Jeremy Gu said, "at training they left nothing in the tank and everything on the floor, and they did the same during the games. They understand the importance of team work and trusting teammates. They execute their game plans very well and kept on improving every week."
Eyes on the Playoffs
We all understand it's the playoffs that matter, but let's congratulate all the teams and players on their achievements so far. Whether it's winning or losing, we are in it together!
