If the Champions' victory was a masterclass, the Heat's Grand Final was an instant classic — the kind of game that leaves parents in tears, coaches speechless, and everyone who witnessed it forever changed.
Oliver Wilson-Haynes delivered the performance of a lifetime, scoring a game-high 15 points in a heroic display of clutch basketball. With the Heat trailing late in regulation, Oliver stepped to the free-throw line with ice in his veins and calmly sunk two pressure-packed free throws to tie the game and force overtime. In a moment that would have broken lesser players, he rose to the occasion.
And then came the moment that will live in Melbourne Wolves folklore forever. With less than 10 seconds remaining in overtime and the scores tied, Harry French delivered the killer blow — a clutch basket that gave the Heat their first and only lead of the entire game. The timing could not have been more perfect. The composure could not have been greater.
The Heat was down by as much as 9 points at the 2:11 mark with 6 minutes left in the first half. They faced a deficit that would have broken most teams. But this group showed tremendous resilience throughout the game to come back and win it. Their only lead came with 10 seconds to go in extra time — and that was all they needed.
The scenes on Court 2 were unlike anything the Sandringham Family Leisure Centre has ever witnessed. Many parents were in tears of pride, still not believing how tough the boys played. From 9 points down to champions — it's the kind of story that defines youth sport and reminds us why we love this game.
This was more than a basketball game. It was a lesson in resilience, belief, and the power of never giving up. Every player who wore the Heat jersey on that Saturday morning can hold their head high knowing they gave absolutely everything and walked away as champions.

Two Grand Finals. Two championships. One unforgettable Saturday. 🏆🏆🐺
The Melbourne Wolves Basketball Club extends its deepest congratulations to every player, coach, team manager, and family involved with both the Champions and the Heat, as well as all the junior and senior teams across the club.
