Coach's Report

What a win! A pretty low-scoring game where we mostly had the upper hand from the first goal. The other team fought back late to even the score, but the boys executed an incredibly clutch final play, hitting a game-winner with less than 10 seconds to go!

Player Performances

Leo

Did much better this week picking up his dribble earlier before losing the ball when crowded. He rebounded and scored well, including the shot of the season so far with the game-winner!

Jimmy

His defence stood out this week, along with hitting a key jumpshot in the second half.

Aarav

Put in our first points of the game to set the tone. He is one of our key rebounders and defenders at the moment, and had a clutch inbound pass to Jungan under heavy pressure in our last possession.

Travis

Showed great improvement this week, getting his hands on more rebounds and steals. He was also one of our key defenders hustling back behind the offense on transition discouraging a lot of scoring opportunities.

Jacob

Rebounded and retrieved the ball at a high level again with his speed and energy. Every single possession counts in a close game decided by one shot, so his effort was valuable.

Jungan

Is learning quickly how to push the ball up the court with his improved dribbling and put pressure on the defence. He is getting a good number of shots off each game and hit a nice bank shot. In the last possession, he pushed the ball up well against desperate defence and got a pass off to Leo leading to the game-winner.

Peter Qiu 🌟

Had his best game of the season! He got his hands on quite a few loose balls and really excelled pushing the ball up the court and drawing two fouls. Great improvement this week Peter!

✅ Things We Did Well

Led by Peter and Travis, we did a much better job of ensuring we had a player back behind the defence when they were inbounding. This stopped the other team from generating any fast break points the whole game!

The boys also battled really hard this game, which was great to see. The other team got a few shots in late mostly because the boys were getting a bit tired on defence, which is normal, but they didn't give up and found a way to get a win.

📋 Things We Can Work On

Making the most of our transition opportunities. We had quite a few chances to score in transition that we missed. We are working on this in training with full court dribbling → layup drills, so I think this will get better.
