Parent & Player Compliance

Conduct and Club Membership

All players, parents and guardians are expected to follow Club instructions and comply with the competition By-Laws and rules of the relevant basketball association.

This includes, but is not limited to, rules relating to player eligibility, registrations, fill-in players and the requirement that every player participates under their own registered name and details.

Forfeits and fines

Where a parent, guardian or player knowingly or willingly disregards a Club instruction or breaches a competition By-Law, and that breach results in the Club receiving a forfeit fine or other financial penalty, the Club reserves the right to pass that cost on to the responsible family.

This particularly applies to deliberate player eligibility breaches, including using an ineligible or illegal fill-in player, allowing a player to participate under another person's name or registration, or proceeding after the Club has advised that a player is not permitted to participate.

Where a $150 forfeit fine is passed on to a family, payment must be made to the Club within 7 days of notification. Failure to pay within this period may result in cancellation of the player's Club membership and/or registration.

Club membership and registration

Membership of the Club is conditional upon players and families complying with Club policies, reasonable directions, competition By-Laws and expected standards of behaviour.

The Club reserves the right to suspend or cancel a player's membership or registration where a player, parent or guardian:

  • knowingly or repeatedly breaches competition By-Laws or Club rules;
  • disregards reasonable instructions or directions from the Club;
  • deliberately provides false or misleading player or registration information;
  • engages in conduct that brings, or is reasonably likely to bring, the Club into disrepute;
  • behaves in a manner that causes ongoing or significant problems for their team, the Club, officials or the relevant basketball association; or
  • repeatedly requires Club intervention because of inappropriate conduct or non-compliance.

Serious misconduct may result in immediate suspension or cancellation of membership. For other matters, the Club may issue a warning or provide an opportunity to rectify the issue before taking further action, at the Club's discretion.

Future registrations

Registration with the Club in one season does not guarantee acceptance of registration in a future season.

Players and/or families who are repeat offenders, repeatedly breach Club or competition requirements, or cause ongoing conduct or compliance issues involving their team, the Club or the relevant basketball association may have future registration applications declined.

Our priority is to provide a fair, safe and well-run basketball environment for all players, families, coaches, volunteers and officials. By registering with the Club, players and their parents/guardians agree to comply with these expectations.

Fair, safe and well-run basketball for everyone.
